Christmas & Prayer Calendar

Christmas is a time when we think about light shining into darkness.

For the Fishermen’s Mission, 2016 will be a year remembered with some sadness, as more fishermen have been lost at sea than for many a year. Our Port Staff have dealt with a lot of sorrow and distress as they support the families concerned, bringing hope where there is despair.

The past twelve months has seen us help more fisher,em om meed than ever before but we know there is much more to do.

We have been providing our services for more than 135 years but this would not have been possible for all the support we receive. On behalf of every fishermen’s family helped by their kindness, thank you for your faithful support.

The Fishermen’s Mission Prayer Calendar

Prayer is the driving force behind the work of the Fishermen’s Mission.

We are delighted to send you our 2017 prayer calendar. Thank you for joining with us as we pray for our fishermen and the work of the Fishermen’s Mission around the UK coastline.

For over 135 years the Fishermen’s Mission has taken the compassion of Christ to the heart of our fishing communities. Our practical Christian witness makes a huge impact to the lives of fishing families in need, retired fishermen suffering ill health and those left behind after a tragedy at sea.

Our mission is to care. We follow the footsteps of Jesus to meet fishermen where they are, aboard their boats and in the harbour. Our pastoral welfare visits to lonely and vulnerable retired fishermen and fishermen’s widows are so important.

Our mission is to share. We listen to those we meet, allowing them to tell us what their lives are all about and the struggles they may be facing. We can then practically deal with their needs and pray for them. Our Port Staff are a friendly face to trust and rely on in sometimes desperate circumstances.

Our mission is to support. We will be there if the worst happens for as long as we are needed.

The vital Christian welfare work of the Fishermen’s Mission is only made possible by your prayers and gifts in support of our work. Your generosity means we will always be there for our fishermen, faithfully sharing the love of God with them. Thank you for your prayers and support.
