Catch Of The Day

The team at the Fishermen’s Mission are delighted to have launched the UK wide fundraising project “Catch of the Day”. A national unique project.

We have asked Cornish based sculptor, Peter Boex to create a unique piece of artwork

ceramic fish

(who offered his services and material free of charge), that we can then reproduce using ceramic.

The sculpture was sent to the Potteries in Staffordshire in the middle of March 2018.

A block and case have been made using the sculpture, thus a working mould is used to reproduce into 100 limited edition ceramic pieces. Well known artists and celebrities have received their ceramic fish and will be painting or adorning each ceramic over the next few months, with a few already completed. The work will them be exhibited in restaurants, galleries, public spaces around the UK from February until the end of April 2019.

The 100 “Catch of the Day” will be available to view (venues will be posted) and seen on the website in January 2019 so keep your eyes posted on our social media pages.

All the items will be put up for auction to the public in a bid to raise as much money as we can for the Fishermen’s Mission. All the details on how to register to bid for the auction and when the auction takes place will be available in January 2019.

Here are some of the amazing artwork that has already been completed, don’t forget to keep an eye out on our social media for updates.
