The Porthleven Baulk Auction consists of nearly 200 pieces of art created form the broken wood in Porthleven Harbour Defence. All the art in their innovative and unique forms were exhibited and auction with all the money being raised going to the Fishermen’s Mission.

The story of how Porthleven’s damaged harbour defences have been transformed into £40,000 worth of artwork has been made into a DVD.

In the ultimate tale of triumph over adversity, it recaps on the devastating storms of February 2014 and how the wooden Baulks protecting Porthleven’s inner harbour were snapped by the force of the waves, leading to the loss of boats and fishing equipment.

It then goes onto show how nearly 200 pieces of art were created from the damaged wood, which were then auctioned off in aid of the Fishermen’s Mission last month, raising £40,315. An image of each piece is included at the end of the DVD,

Produced by volunteer Philippa Mina of iwatchmedia, the DVD is being sold at the four crows gallery and Lindy Lou in Porthleven, Helston Fishermen’s Mission shop or via the Fishermen’s Mission online eBay shop, with all proceeds going to the mission.
