A Great Chef With a Huge Heart

Cornwall, June 28, 2024 – Seafood specialist chef Nathan Outlaw has once again proven that his heart is as big as his culinary talent. Over the past two years, from July 2022 to June 2024, Nathan has successfully raised £23,000 for The Fishermen’s Mission.

Nathan’s fundraising efforts include generous diner donations and fundraising initiatives at his acclaimed restaurant, Outlaw’s New Road, with all proceeds going directly to The Fishermen’s Mission. These initiatives not only provided much-needed funds but also raised awareness about the critical work the charity does in supporting the UK’s fishing communities.
“It is my absolute pleasure to write on behalf of the staff and Trustees of The Fishermen’s Mission to thank you for the incredibly generous gift of £23,000 to the charity. In the current climate, and after all that the country and the hospitality industry in particular has had to endure in recent years, the value of this amount of support to the charity cannot be understated. Your knowledge, understanding and support of, and to, both the industry and the work we do as a maritime welfare charity to help those in need across the catch sector – active and former fishermen and of course their families, is plain for all to see.” – Captain Marc Evans, Chief Executive

A longstanding patron of The Fishermen’s Mission, Nathan has supported the charity for over a decade and was titled Honorary Vice Patron in 2021. His dedication to the welfare of fishermen and their families is unwavering, and this latest donation is a testament to his commitment.

“The Fishermen’s Mission does incredible work, ensuring that those who risk their lives at sea have someone to turn to, and I’m proud to support them in any way I can. This donation is a collective effort – from my amazing team at Outlaw’s New Road to every diner who contributed. I’ve said before, but will continue to reiterate that without charities such as this, I wouldn’t have a business, so my support is a way of giving back.” – Nathan Outlaw

The Fishermen’s Mission, established in 1881, is dedicated to providing emergency support and practical, financial, and emotional care to fishermen and their families. The charity’s work is vital in ensuring the well-being of those who risk their lives at sea to bring seafood to our tables.
