We’re launching the FitFeb 2020 challenge in line with NHS campaign Active 10. What is FitFeb? it’s exercise… MADE EASY! We want you to get involved and make a start on exercising from something we do every day, walking.
A brisk walk is a great excuse to get outside and improve your health. You can start small and build up your time. This can be from walking around the block or take a quick walk to the end of the road and back. Maybe get your friends and family involved and set yourselves a challenge, it’s all about starting somewhere
Brisk walking is simply walking quicker than usual at a pace that gets your heart pumping. Every minute of activity counts, but aim for at least 10 minutes a day. There’s also an Active 10 app which is a great way to help you monitor and gradually increase your brisk walking levels over time.
You could walk part of your journey home, pop to the shops on foot, or just get some fresh air. No gym memberships and no brightly coloured Lycra needed (unless you want to).
Walk your way to health
A daily brisk walk can make you feel better in so many ways. It can boost your energy, clear your head and lift your mood.
It can help with many issues, such as lower back pain and those at risk of high blood pressure.
It’s also great for your long-term health – it can reduce your risk of serious illnesses like heart disease, anxiety, depression, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers.
