For a few years now, a local group called Floppsie Cullens, which included a well known Retired Fisherman, Jimmy Cullen, who sadly passed away last year, through their Facebook page have raised thousands of pounds for local charities and causes. Three charities were chosen for 2015/16, which included Fishermen’s Mission North Shields.

The presentation evening is on Friday 26th February at the Surf Café, Tynemouth sea front. We understand that each charity will receive in the region of £2,000-£3,000. As a result of the fundraising efforts of the group, including making and selling calendars, making and selling material rabbits and much more.

Supt Dade thanked Floppsie Cullens for their excellent donation and said the funds would be put to good use with Fishermen, Retired Fishermen, both active and retired. UK and NON-UK in the North East.  He said Fishing is the most dangerous occupation in the Uk & beyond. He added that he would have to leave after the presentation as he had an injured fisherman to deal with, suspected broken ankle. A mission volunteer had taken him to hospital. The prawn season was still busy.
