We are firmly committed to the safety of our fishermen as a key priority
Fishing is the most dangerous job in the world. Sadly, an average of 10 fishermen are lost or die at sea every year. Some never come home. We are part of the Fishing Industry Safety Group (FISG) and fully support their Home and Dry campaign.
We know the devastating impacts of loss at sea. We encourage all our fishermen to wear a personal flotation device (PFD) when working out at sea. The catch is worthless if fishermen do not come home along with it. Get in touch with us to find out more about the importance of sea safety.
Working as part of our SeaFit programme we are piloting the distribution of defibrillators on fishing boats.
The sea is a dangerous place, and our practical help and support are available. This will help to prevent our fishermen from placing themselves at risk in order to earn the income they need to keep their families afloat.
