This popular festival continues to grow and new features this year include Thames Barge exhibits, the London Wreck Trust and Port of London Authority. After the success of our past Maritime Festivals and now with our newly landscaped Strand Wharf, the Kid’s Zone there will have even more attractions including lots of crabbing fun and Marko Sparko Pirate show at 3 p.m.
There is something for everyone as this holiday festival including the return of our special Italian food market as well as craft stalls and a wealth of entertainment including our ‘Seaside Variety Show’ on Victoria Wharf and Blessing the Catch as one of our local fisherman brings it ashore. Additionally we are delighted to incorporate the Lower Thames Rowing Club Annual Southend Pier Race into our festival.
As with all Leigh Town Council events, it is free to all but we do hope our visitors will be generous in making a donation to our nominated charities The Fishermen’s Mission and RNLI. Why not visit the Fishermen’s Mission stand opposite the Boatyard Restaurant
Please note the High Street will be closed to traffic on Sunday 21st August from 10 am. Limited parking will be available in Belton Bridge car parks but we do recommend you park at Leigh Station where there is ample parking at a reasonable price after 10 am. Please note there will be no parking in Foundry and Victoria Car parks from 1 am on 21st August.
Fishermen’s Mission are the official Chairwoman of Leigh Town Council charity this year. Our local Mission Port Officer, Gavin Dixon, is the Chaplain to the Leigh Town Council this year
