Finance Administrator

Every year, the Fishermen’s Mission supports thousands of active and retired fishermen and their families. The Business Operations Finance Administrator helps keep that work going by making sure our finances run smoothly. You’ll help our frontline teams focus on providing care and support where it’s needed most.

About the role

You will be part of our friendly Business Operations team, supporting the Finance Manager with the daily running of our finance systems. From managing invoices and bank reconciliations to helping with audits and reports, you will help make sure our charity stays accurate, transparent, and efficient.

About you

You are organised, reliable, and comfortable working with numbers. You will have an eye for detail, enjoy keeping things in order, and be happy working both independently and as part of a close-knit team. You will share our values of care, honesty, and service. You are open to working within a Christian charity that welcomes everyone.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the finance mailbox: respond to queries and process invoices for payment.
  • Send invoices for approval and record them accurately in Accounts IQ.
  • Prepare and process weekly payment runs.
  • Reconcile all bank accounts and keep financial records up to date.
  • Post income from Salesforce and reconcile it monthly.
  • Help with month-end and year-end processes, including audits.
  • Support colleagues with shared administrative duties and act as Lead Administrator on a rota.

Essential skills and experience

  • Experience working with financial ledgers and reconciliations.
  • Confident using Excel (including the creation and use of pivot tables) and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
  • Able to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines.
  • Experience processing purchase invoices and payment runs.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Able to work independently while being a supportive team member.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Part-qualified AAT or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of charity finance or fundraising income processes.
  • Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Experience using Accounts IQ or Salesforce.
  • Awareness of data protection and confidentiality best practices.
