A Year in the Fishermen’s Mission
- 23,000 welfare and outreach interactions
- 3,600 clients received wellbeing support
- £1.7m of financial assistance facilitated by our Port teams
- 1,000 fishermen’s widows and family members supported as well as over 200 fishermen’s children
- 300 fishermen received emergency financial assistance
- 80 fishing incidents and accidents at sea responded to by our emergency on-call team
- 1,500 vaccinations facilitated, mainly for migrant crew across the UK
- 100s improved their physical and mental health at SeaFit events around the UK
- 1,000s of prayers raised and answered, including those at our weekly Fishermen’s Mission Prayercall Teams meeting
These numbers make up an impressive snapshot, but it’s important to see that behind each number is a fishing person who needed a helping hand.
Some reassurance or guidance, some practical help, or a shoulder to cry on. A person who needed someone to talk to or someone to speak for them.
In a year where the world appeared to be a confusing and frightening place, our fishermen and their families knew they had someone they could rely on – that trusted friend from the Fishermen’s Mission. And how did that happen? Not by chance or good fortune but only through the wonderful generosity of you, our supporters, our Fishermen’s Mission family.
