The scope of the job is to support the Finance Manager and be responsible for the day to day administration in the finance department, supporting the Finance Manager and shared tasks across the Business Operations Administration team.

Cancer Community Engagement Officer
The Fishermen’s Mission is a Christian charity that provides emergency and welfare assistance to active and former commercial fishermen and their families, through practical, financial and pastoral support. Every year we help thousands of clients, many in desperate circumstances.
With oversight from the Cancer Community Programme Manager, the Cancer Community Engagement Officer will oversee the day-to-day tasks of engaging with fishermen, their families, and communities to raise the profile and awareness of early cancer screening, testing and treatment. The Cancer Community Engagement Officer will work in partnership with all identified stakeholders to raise the profile of the Cancer Community Programme.
Purpose of the Role:
To support the Cancer Community Programme Manager to scope, analyse and fully understand the North Shields fishing community in accessing cancer healthcare services and develop an education and awareness programme. This will include addressing barriers around support to aid screening uptake, presentation at primary care to aid earlier diagnosis, supportive care through cancer pathways for ongoing physical and emotional support to improve outcomes for patients with cancer and those having completed treatment.
This is a fixed term contract until the end of March 2027.

Supporting the Area Officer the Support Officer will provide welfare and pastoral support to those in need, in the fishing communities of Devon.
Role Summary
To provide support to clients of the Fishermen’s Mission by assessing their welfare needs, completing applications, providing sign posting recommendations and completing referrals. This will be undertaken through a combination of digital and in-person support
To support the Area Manager in the development and maintenance of positive links with key statutory and voluntary section organisations across the region, promoting awareness of the Fishermen’s Mission and developing potential routes to further support our clients.
To support community fundraising activities across the area which will include some evening and weekend work.

Area Manager - Wales

Role Summary
To develop services across the area to provide support to clients in line with the strategic direction of the organisation. The Area Manager will be required to have a good understanding of the needs of current and potential clients across their area, and how these relate to the national picture.
To provide support to clients of the Fishermen’s Mission by assessing their welfare needs, completing applications, providing sign posting recommendations and completing referrals. This will be undertaken through a combination of digital and in-person support
To be a member of the Fishermen’s Mission 24/7 response for emergencies at sea rota, by taking initial calls and co-ordinating responses as required.
To develop and maintain positive links with key statutory and voluntary section organisations across the region, promoting awareness of the Fishermen’s Mission and developing potential routes to further support our clients.
To develop and deliver a community fundraising plan for the area, meeting a fundraising target.
It is desirable that the succesful candidate would be Welsh speaking.
